Urban Decay’s NAKED Smoky [Review + Look]

IMG_0658I am such a sucker for a good eye shadow palette and Urban Decay delivers with their NAKED Smoky. 9 times out of 10, if I’m doing my eyes, it turns into a smokey eye (whether it fits the occasion or not).

After being disappointed by NAKED3 and seeing a great deal on Sephora, I gave Smoky a shot. I mean it was only $21 bucks where these babies usually sell at $54 a pop – Merry Christmas to me.

There are four metallic, four shimmers, and four matte shades. Each and every color is super pigmented. You don’t need to pick up much product on your brush to see the payoff. In this case, it’s even more imperative to your life that you blend, blend, blend.

Usually, when you hear “smokey eyes” you automatically think “racoon eyes”. That’s not really my look. I couldn’t pull it off. So, I wanted to share a light smokey eye that can be worn ever day and to special occasions but isn’t goth-like, which we’re shown so often. The great thing about Naked Smoky is that it’s filled with neutral colors that you can play with the create soft looks best for your skin tone.

I primed my lids and went to town. This isn’t a complicated look but I did use 7 out of the 12 shades – they all just complemented each other so well. First, I put combust all over my lid and used thirteen on my brow bone to highlight. Whiskey went in my crease and I blended it out with combust again. Dirtysweet went all over my eyelid and radar went on in the middle and outer part of my lid. High is in the inner corner of my eyelid and really made my whole eye pop.

Here’s the smokey party- I blended out Black Market on the very outside of my eyelid and used it to line my lower lash line. Lastly, I used my pointer finger to place Dirtysweet in the very middle of my eyelid. To finish the look, I used gel eyeliner to make a subtle wing and applied mascara. It was that easy!
